Minor in ELTS with French and Francophone

To enter the minor, students must have an overall grade-point average of 2.0 or better.

Required Lower-Division Courses (8 units): French 6, or equivalent and One European Literature, Language, Culture or Film and Media course selected from: French 12, 14, 14W, 16, 41, 60, or Italian 42A, 42B, 42C, 46, 50A, 50B, 77, or German 50, 50B, 56, 59, 60W, or Scandinavian 40,40W, 50, 50W, 60W.

Required Upper-Division Courses (20 units): Three upper division courses in European, literature, culture, film or media with courses selected from three of the four following areas:

  • European Literature: French 115 -121, 136, 163, 164, 166, or German 110, 112,158, 170, 173 174, or Italian 103A, 103B, 110, 113, 120, 140, 150 or Scandinavian C133A, 134,C141A, 141C, 143A, C145A C145B, C146A, 143C, 147A, C147B, 147C, 154, 155, 157, 172A, C180, C185
  • European Culture: French 112, 121,130, 137, 138, 139, 160, 167, 169, or German 102,109, 115, 116. 118SL, 154, 159, 175, or Italian 102A-C.116A-B, 122-125, 152, M158, or Scandinavian 133C, 134, C137 ,138, 142A, C171, 172A, 173A, C174A, 174B
  • European Film and Media: French 141, 142, or German 103, 104, or Italian 121; or Scandinavian 161-167
  • Experimental Humanities: CESC 100XP, CESC 172XP, Comparative Literature 180, 180SL, Classics 148, Digital Humanities 101-151, ELTS C101XP, English M118E, M118F, Food ST M176XP, Italian 124, and Public Affairs M176XP.  

Two electives (minimum 8 units) selected from French 100-169.

One upper division course must be taught in French selected from courses numbered 115-139.

A minimum of 20 units applied toward the minor requirements must be in addition to units applied toward major requirements or another minor.

Each minor course must be taken for a letter grade, and students must have an overall grade-point average of 2.0 or better in the minor. Successful completion of the minor is indicated on the transcript and diploma.
